Bodycon or actual con?

Well I cannot go on a night out anymore without seeing tons of girls dressed in tight, short bodycon dresses. Pretty, flowing party dresses are a thing of yesterday! Personally, I think it's a look that can go very, very wrong and look extremely tacky. That's why it's probably a good idea to spend a few extra pennies

on a bodycon dress because places such as Quiz and Primark just seem to make you look slightly tarty. However, I'm about to swallow my words as the bodycon dress I am wearing in the pictures is, in fact, from Primark. It was a pretty lucky find to be honest. I was cutting through Primark in town around Christmas time and just saw it. With it only being a tenner, I thought I may as well get it. After that, I have never seen it in the shop again!

The good thing about this dress is that it's simple, so if you choose the right accessories it can look really classy. I would suggest a pretty clutch bag, simple jewelry and perhaps dark heels or wedges. Another benefit is the dress is strategically curved to create the illusion that you are thinner! However, this kind of doesn't work if someone looks at you from the side because the curve makes you look slightly bloated. Even so, I do think you have to be fairly slim to pull off a bodycon dress. Let's be honest, they are brilliant at showing off all your bumps (good or bad). So, you either need to be slim, invest in body control underwear, or have an immense amount of confidence to feel comfortable in this type of dress. But since I've seen so many girls wearing bodycon dresses on nights out recently, I don't think British ladies are having no problem pulling off this look!!

Keep it classy though girls; we don't want someone doing a Britney and flashing her junk around town!

D&G inspired scarf print..

Scarf print is EVERYWHERE at the moment, if you hadn't noticed already. Since its invasion into the Spring 2012 catwalks, especially in the D&G Spring collection, they have hit the high street like a bomb! I cannot open I magazine without being bombarded with why I should 'invest' in this latest trend. However, it IS an acquired taste. The outfit in the first picture, which came off Topshop's website, is not really a ensemble that most people would feel comfortable wearing; way too busy!! Plus, it is hard to find clothes/accessories that will go with scarf print. So it's kind of easy not to bother right?

This time last year scarf print is something I would avoid like the plague!! However, tastes change (or it may be the fact that I am a sucker for following trends) and I have indeed bought myself a scarf print top and blazer. Obviously it is a BIG no no to put the two together (although Topshop might disagree). You can see the pattern of my blazer in the picture below.

The fact is, it doesn't take a genius to put together a scarf print outfit for a night out. Easy. In the case of my blazer I would pair it with a plain dress or a white top and a pastel coloured skirt. The dilemma is how do you incorporate scarf pattern into a casual outfit when it's the furthest thing from casual? Well I have attempted to put together a casual outfit with my blazer (see pictures below). I'm not sure it works that well but I chose to wear a bright orange jumper as I thought it would bring out the colours in the blazer. Let me know what you think.

Violet hill..

Two blog posts in the space of a week? It is not normal for me to have enough spare time to find time to fit this many blog posts in haha! I am blogging from a slightly dated (the carpet is really spongey and they've got CDs glued to the walls) pub in Cornwall.

I can't complain though since I'm using their wifi!! I told my parents I was going to find somewhere to do work.. I don't think I lied completely cause this is a form of work, just not uni work, and slightly more enjoyable!!

So Happy Easter everyone! It's weird to think this time last year I was revising for A-levels and extremely stressed. I'm still stressed, but it's not as bad because my uni deadlines are more manageable. I only have about five weeks left of uni, while most people finish earlier, but it is still quite a daunting feeling that I will have so much time to kill, again! To be honest, I don't think long summers are good for me; I just get too lazy and lose all sense of routine! However, I think I am getting a job, which will be nice (to get money to spend on clothes, correction, save up for paying off rent, sorry Dad!!).

Anyway, fashion wise, I got my student loan on Monday. I am so bad. Straightaway I went to town and spent £90 on clothes!! Please tell me there is another student out there who is as bad as me??? Well it was kind of worth it. I got this cute Parka for £9 from Primark and it is so easy to pack away as it all folds into one of the pockets; convenient eh? I also got some new leggings (see pictures) which are so comfortable and look great because of the speckled detail. I am starting to think I have a compulsion to spend money. Last week I spent at least 30 minutes arguing with someone that I just needed a cupcake candle because my life wouldn't be complete without it.... Am I going to end up like the girl off Confessions of a Shopaholic?
