Falling for the Forest.

Helloooo. I have just got back from the Forest of Dean, and it was gorgeous!! I was also blessed as the weather was very sunny whilst I was there (giving me a much needed tan!). I have to say I've done more camping recently

than I have in years. I guess it's a good thing because it's all preparation for Leeds festival. It is very pretty in the Forest of Dean; I love the landscape and the way the trees tower over you like green, lush giants. Near where we were staying was a river called the River Wye. We spent a day down by it, having a lovely picnic; it was very tranquil.

I am absolutely buzzing at the moment because I turn eighteen on Thursday! Its going to be so weird buying my first legal Sambuca shot. However, I already have my birthday present which is my camera, and I love it so much so it doesn't really matter if I don't have much to open on the actual day. I don't really know why turning eighteen is such a big deal. I mean only a few things actually change. Its not like there's a physical change you can see. I guess its because it's a chance to prove yourself as an adult, and in my case, escape the control of your parents. Since its such a 'big deal' I think it's an excuse to wear an elaborate outfit right? I think I have a dress in mind, but if anyone has any other ideas feel free to share (: So here are some photo's from the beautiful forest (:

I love this necklace!

That's kitsch.

Hello lovelies. I've been a busy lady! On Thursday I finished my nine days of work experience in primary schools. It doesn't sound very difficult but it is very taxing, especially if you are like myself and enjoy going out a lot. So most days I've come home and collapsed or gone straight out despite my exhaustion haha! Therefore, I haven't had much time to think of some fresh outfit ideas. However, tomorrow I am going to the beautiful Forest of Dean and I can't wait to get some amazing pictures!! I am going to take advantage of the beautiful scenery; if you ever get a chance I seriously recommend you go to the Forest of Dean cause it is just gorgeous, and there is plenty to do! Anyway, the other week I found a hidden treasure in the form of fashion bloggers. I really cannot get over how much I love this blogger's style. Monica Barley is also a fashion blogger from England and her style is so cute and chic; I love how she wears adorable socks with heels. These pictures obviously show I have been inspired by her (:

Also; it is such a shame about Amy Winehouse. She was such a talented artist and I know she will be greatly missed.

We all have good intentions, but all with strings attached.

Those of you who know of the 70s punk band, Gang of Four, may have noticed that I have taken to using their lyrics as titles at the moment. I love them, their comments on society, even though society has changed since the 1970s, I can really relate to. Anyway, I am going to Leeds festival at the end of August and I have been thinking about festival looks. Firstly, hair; at a festival your hair is going to look shit basically, no matter how much dry shampoo you attempt to use. So embrace the messy mane! My hair is almost always in a mess, but that's how I like it, so I should survive! I think the biggest problem for me is going to be the lack of showers. I must spend a quarter of my week in the shower usually, so its definitely going to grate on me. Therefore, I am going to take my weight in baby wipes haha! I think I'm going to keep the make-up minimal because less is more you know? However, I can't decide whether to go with a grungey 'I don't care' look or a kinda fantastical, flower-power, hippy look. Any thoughts?

Natural's not in it

Bonjour. I am seriously wishing I was back in Paris. Currently I am on work experience at a primary school (I have to do it to get on to my course at university) and I have already managed to catch a dreadful cold within two days of being there. So yeah, I'm not feeling so great. On Tuesday I was teaching the children about plants and randomly this revived my obsession with the colour green, which I had a few years ago. Honestly, about three quarters of my wardrobe were green. However, it is a slightly dangerous colour to wear. Of course, if you wear too much you will look like a walking plant haha! I got this green H&M skirt (see pictures) about 3years ago when I was in the midst of my green obsession. To be honest, I've hardly worn it, but I really love it because it looks quite retro.

At home she feels like a tourist

Well I am back from Paris. Firstly; when I have finished my forthcoming degree I am moving to Paris. I don't care how much it costs, and I will live off onion soup forever if it comes to that! I am enchanted by the city. The buildings are beautiful. I can just imagine myself sitting beside one of those gorgeous balcony's, watching the world go by. Despite not actually buying anything (because I am poor, haha) I was overwhelmed by the beautiful clothes when I walked into the Galeries Lafayette. Paris is also a great place for street style; I picked up many ideas by simply observing what people were wearing from a quaint cafe with my chocolat chaud. If I go to Paris again I think it would be a great idea to do a street style piece (that is if people will let a crazy English lady take pictures of them!).

Now I will get on to the art. Yes, the art! Taking art as an A-level has given my a lot of insight into how difficult and time consuming a creation can be. Thus, when I saw the huge paintings, in particular the Coronation of Napoleon, I was gobsmacked! The art I saw in the Louvre was incredible. Of course I had to see the Mona Lisa, but to be honest I am more a fan of the impressionist artists rather the medieval art (although it is brilliant). So I was absolutely amazed by the pieces by Monet, Renoir and Sisley. I plan on doing some copies during the summer (: The street art, mainly at Ponte Neuf and Montmatre, was also superb and it was nice to see some art in a different, urban setting.

I used this trip as an opportunity to experiment with my style. I tried to look sophisticated yet unusual and the outfit I wore at Montmatre seemed to be appreciated (despite my embarrassment). My fashion muse (as mentioned in an earlier post) was Carey Mulligan, so I went for a vintage, chic feel. Anyway, let me know what you think (:
